Greetings Makers, Educators and everyone in between!
We here at the Makerspace headquarters have been working hard trying to create the best online resource and community specifically geared towards both Makers who have an interest in education and Educators who are interested in bringing making into their classrooms for a more enriching educational experience.
After late nights, many revisions and more than one redesign we are pleased to invite you to our new home on the web - Makerspace.com!
While it's pretty safe to say that there are still some miles to go on the website until it is absolutely 100% perfect, we feel like it's in working order enough to let you guys in to start playing with it and letting us know what we can do better.
On the new site you can enjoy:
The Makerspace Blog! - Enjoy the latest updates and news from our MENTOR Makerspace program as well as blogs from other MAKE branches that speak specifically to makers in educational environments.
The Makerspace Directory! - This part of the website is still a work in progress but the goal here is to provide a crowdsourced database of publicly accessible Makerspaces across the globe. If you have a Makerspace please feel free to contribute to the list and feel free to pass it along to any Makerspace owners you know!
Makerspace Community! - Want to start a conversation? Get a question answered by people in the know? Need to pick the brains of the experts? We've now given you three different ways to keep in touch with your fellow Makers and Educators - become a member on our site and start participating on the Makerspace Forums, join the community on Google+, or follow us on Facebook. Pick your preferred social network and we'll be there!
Through our new site you can also head to our website for the MENTOR Makerspace program - an initiative to bring the practice of Making and the concepts of CNC and 3D printing into high school classrooms and curriculum across the nation and beyond. Do you have a classroom that would be enhanced by Making? Find out how to get your school involved by clicking here.
As previously mentioned, we are still working out the last of the hiccups here and there so if you happen to run into something that looks amiss on the site, please be patient and please let us know! Our Community Manager, Devon McGuire is standing by waiting for your questions, suggestions and feedback! She can be reached fairly easily on all the sites and can also be reached by emailing email@example.com.
So go take a gander and let us know what you think! We're setting this website up to best serve you, our community, so the more feedback we can receive about what you guys want, the better.
Looking forward to seeing you online!
