Intro to Bottle Rockets

This course will teach how to make water powered rockets out of soda bottles and other recycled or household materials.

The course will cover the basics of several types of designs and give participants freedom to make their own modifications. Water and air pressure are used to generate thrust and this event is a very hands on fun learning experience.

The class is open to adults and kids ages 7 and up.

Materials: Each participant will be asked to bring the following materials, if possible:

Clean empty 2L soda bottles. Minimum of one is required but two is ideal. you can also bring 1L bottles or 20 oz bottles that have aerodynamic shapes (but note at least one 2L bottle per rocket is required!).
Duct Tape! I will provide some for the class but if you bring your own, you can make sure you get the color you want.

The class will have two basic parts: building and launching. This is a simple intro course, and though I do want to discuss some of the basic physics behind why and how these rockets (and rockets in general) work, and stability of flight, lift, drag, etc, this is mostly a hands on experience where these flight principles can be better understood by experiment.

Location currently is TBD but I am attempting to confirm a location in Hoboken at a park. I will update the meetup class when this happens.
