LOCKPICKING Picking Night / Open Craft Night

As part of our outreach to TOOOL, we are sponsoring a monthly Lockpicking event to encourage like minded individuals to gather, greet, and pick the night away!!!  No experience required, just a desire to learn is all that is needed.  Anyone can pick, if you don't believe us, come on down and try it for yourself!

At this time, we are also requesting donations of locks, ...old rusty pad locks(or shiny new ones), door locks (old or shiny[we love shiny locks]), combination locks, handcuffs (with or without keys), prison shackles(no questions asked...wink, wink), practice locks, bicycle locks, key safes, combination safes, etc... in general anything that has a lock may be donated.   If you have any of the above mentioned locks, and would be happy to donate them, please bring them with you when you come to help increase the diversity of locks to pick.

Come have a beer (or two[we don't count]) with us, and have fun picking away with fellow pickers!! See you there!!

Open to Public**

In parallel with OPEN CRAFT NIGHT:

Come on down and make stuff! Don't be shy, we love seeing new faces and meeting new MakerBarbians. Bring a project in any state, an idea, or just  come to hang out with us while we work on projects, WARNING spontaneous brainstorms are on the forecast.

This event is free and open to the public.   It is an ideal time to stop in and see what the MakerBar is all about. Interested in membership, speak to one of our members about the great benefits as well as outstanding community that is MakerBar. Hudson County's one and only Hackerspace.

Doors open at 7-till ?????

**Minors (under 18) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We went to the lock picking meetup as a surprise date for my husband. We had wanted to check out the Maker Bar for awhile but hadn't had the time.
I am so glad that we went. Everyone was so nice. Travis and Burt were very patient and really explained things well. We need a lot of practice but feel like lock picking is something that we could do! James managed to get a padlock open, and me, I just need some more time.
The space is amazing. There's tools and equipment to build pretty much anything. I really look forward to attending more meetups here and learning and making.
    Thanks so much!

Hi Robyn & James, It was great meeting you both yesterday, thank you so much for your interest and support. We are so happy that you and your husband had a great time, and we look forward to seeing you guys again soon for next lockpicking event. Remember, picking is all about patience, determination, and above all perseverance, your skills will only get better with time and practice. Thanks again for showing us some love, we really enjoy helping others discovery the picking addition... Talk to you soon, Travis

would like to go, but not this week. Btw, last night I went to the local Board of Education meeting on STEM education, and the expert was talking up
'maker spaces' as the way of the future!

Hi Brad, No worries sirs, we are running this event once a month, last Friday of the month.... I agree with the expert, MakerBar changed my idea of makerspaces, and I hope more people find it as rewarding as I have... Talk to you soon, great meeting you the other day, Happy Picking, Travis

Hi Alfredo, It's a very fun and addictive hobby and skill, we will be mainly focusing on pin and tumbler locks, (i.e. padlocks, and door locks). Look forward to meeting you, see you on Friday. If you have any questions about the event, please ask and I'll do my best to answer them. Thanks, Travis
