Meta-Publicity Hackathon

Getting the word out about the awesomeness of the MakerBar has been a significant challenge and we want to address the problem by streamlining the publicity process. So if you have an idea that could address the publicity problem in a meta way stop by and give us a hand.

Some examples include:
-Scrape the MakerBar blog for new posts and auto generate a newsletter that can be posted throughout Hoboken.
-Figure out the best way to post newsletters while Makerbarbarians are going about their routines.

    My game plan:
    - Make posters for the next three themed months
    - Put up posters for Survival January
    - Lay out PCB's for upcoming custom kits
    - Finish Presence Detection Hack V2
    - Write five MakerBlog posts
    - Get back in touch with a few interested folks who dropped off the grid

Not meta at all, just publicity. Consider me the control group.

Hmm, how are you going to tell if we're at the Hacakathon or Craft Night? I'm signed up for both :-P

The most obvious way to "hack publicity" would be to do some decently large, very public hack that engages people somewhere in Hoboken.

    • Andy F.

Hmm, I wonder why it's showing up wrong on my calendar.

File a bug, or b!tch on Twitter, roughly same thing nowadays

      December 27, 2012

  • Zack F.

Shouldn't this be called the "Publicity Meta-Hackathon"?

The goal of the hackathon isn't publicity directly but finding ways that we can automate, streamline and be smart about how we spend our publicity time. As a volunteer organization of hackers it's tough to get members to spend much time on this topic. So I though we could brainstorm and find solutions.
