Beginning Game Programming with C#

Learn how to programme and develop video games using the C# programming language.

This is a University of Colorado paper delivered online through Coursera. The study is free and you get a "Statement of Accomplishment" at the end if you care about that kind of thing.
We thought it looked like a cool paper but that online courses can be a bit lonely. So why not have a weekly supportive meetup over the 8 weeks with coffee, snacks and maybe a bit of wine and beer. Alan who works here is keen to learn this too and is also a newbie.
So we provide the space, refreshments, big screen, laptops and in-between pep talks. If things get tough we could probably call in some help too.

Read more about the course here:
https://www.coursera.org/course/gameprogramming

* The price is in US dollars, but it translates to NZ $15. Meetup won't let us use NZ dollars.

* If your sure you'll come to all meetings it's only $90 all up.

* This won't go ahead unless we have 5 (including Alan).

If you post the code and ask questions here: https://class.coursera... it can be read easier than on Meetup.

But you are doing things right. It was missing a closing } - they brackets always need to be paired. I have added some notes into the above forum link.

Thanks for all your help; I managed to get it down to only four errors before submission, but I really don't understand it - yet! see you tomorrow!

I know we have to write a game plan - how complex should we be? Mine is very simple...........

Yeah I was just thinking it would be good for us a a group to each have one simple idea to have. nothing too complex. my idea is just a simple 2d platform game, going from left to right, shooting enemies.

Daniel, for the course I would suggest going one step back, and keep the game within one screen to start with. Think Pacman, Space Invaders, Pong or Tetris. They are better for learning basic game concepts. Adding scrolling to the game (like Mario) is another thing to learn. Not impossible, but for an 8-week course it might be just too much.
However, it's cool to 'think big', so don't let my words hold you back ;)

Oops, I missed the assignment and thought that all we had to do was the game ideas/plan.
I will have a go and maybe someone could check it for me before I hand it in - I am a bit unsure of this....thanks, Kristelle

Just hold out a bit longer, it will get clearer. I think the tutor assumed a few things. The hand in is either 5 or 6 today NZ time.
