Third Friday Shabbat Service

The third Friday of each month is our Musical Shabbat led by Rabbi/Cantor Monty Turner, Cantorial Soloist Mitzi Schwarz, and other Makom musicians playing guitar, keyboard, harmonica and accordion. The service includes prayer, meditation, and lots of beautiful music with audience participation encouraged (rhythm instruments will be passed out), from the traditional liturgy, compositions by Makom members, and Jewish music that speaks to our tribal roots. Services begin at 7:30 pm in our regular sanctuary location. Children are always welcome in the service. Childcare is provided if we are given 24 hours notice. The service will be followed by an Oneg Shabbat serving fruit, dessert, and shmoozing in the social hall.

Please tell me more about this possible childcare. I thought the participatory music would appease my 2 year old during the 1st Friday service ... it didn't, and we had to leave early.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
