This is a great loop to do after a rain. The soil in this area soaks up the rain and for the most part it will be pretty dry--not muddy. It isn't Malibu, but hey, it's getting us out there! This is the Brentwood area.
It is about a 2 hour loop and if that's not enough, I suppose you could turn around and do the loop backwards and get more! The loop I'm doing is about 5 miles with an elevation gain of about 800 ft. We're going to go at a really good pace, maybe run up some singletracks for thrills and challenges.
The weather report says there will be a break in the rain on Saturday so that's what I"m counting on
Brink plenty of water and come hydrated. There is a bathroom about half way through but the woods are always available as well. There is no bathroom at the start of the trail so if you want to stop and use a restroom before heading up Mandeville Canyon, go for it.
You'll access Mandeville Canyon off Sunset Blvd. Head up Mandeville for almost 5 miles--you'll go through 4 stop signs (I think). After going through the stop sign at Chalon, keep going up. You'll pass Merrimac, Hollyhock, then the next street is GardenLand on your left. Park on Gardenland or Mandeville.
Okay, yay, see you out there. We haven't hiked together in a while--I've had lots of responsibilities lately so I'm looking forward to this!
