Have you visited Bellver Castle yet? Chances are that many of you have not yet had the pleasure, and still have it on your 'long list of places to visit'. Bellver Castle is within easy walking distance of Santa Catalina market, so I propose we meet at the junction of Carrer Pou and Carrer Annibal outside the Santa Catalina Market in Santa Catalina. From there, we will make our way toward the sea and follow the pedestrian path alongside Avenida Gabriel Roca, then turn right, up the hill towards the Castle, which once we have walked a couple of blocks inland, we will come to the little forest (wood) that surrounds the Castle. From there it is a nice little hike up the hill to the Castle itself.
On this web site it states that entrance is free for residents (documentational proof probably required) otherwise the entrance fee is as follows:
- Adults: 2.50 €
- Pensioners and students: 1 €
- Minors below the age of 14: Free
On Saturdays: Free entrance for Palma's residents
On Sundays and public holidays: Free entrance for everyone (exhibition rooms and museum closed)
Once we get to the Castle, you are free to walk around at your own leisure, taking as much time as you prefer on all that the Castle has to offer, which includes a brilliant view of Palma.
Bring a packed lunch/picnic to enjoy at the Castle, as I have no idea if there is anywhere to eat up that way.
Children and dogs welcome.
Of course, this hike is weather permitting, so fingers crossed for a lovely, warm sunny day. If you plan to join us, if the weather looks unfavourable nearer the time, please check this site for updates on if meet up will be re-scheduled.
