Mamistad (First-time Pregnant Moms Group)

MAMISTAD IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING FIRST-TIME PREGNANT MAMIS & MAMIS OF NEWBORNS ONLY. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAREFULLY READ YOUR WELCOME MESSAGE ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO THE GROUP. IT WILL EXPLAIN THE STEPS NECESSARY FOR YOU TO BE PLACED IN A GROUP MOST EFFICIENTLY. ALSO, NEW MEMBERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND A SCHEDULED INTRODUCTORY MEETING BEFORE BEING PLACED IN A GROUP. INFO ABOUT THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE POSTED HERE AS WELL AS IN THE WEEKLY NEWSLETTER ALL MEMBERS RECEIVE. Mamistad was born to bring first-time pregnant women together to share the struggles, joys and beauty of motherhood. In Spanish, Mami means (and is pronounced like) "mommy" and Amistad (say "ah-me-stahd") means friendship. Women need women! My pregnancy group was invaluable to me when I was pregnant in 2006 and it is now my Mami group and closest circle of friends. I want to help other Mamis build a similar support system.

Joining Mamistad is free. There is a membership fee of $35 if I am able to place you in a private (numbered) group of 5-10 Mamis (a close-knit circle of friends) within our larger group (an amazing network of many Pregnant Mamis, Newborn Mamis, New Mamis and "Been Around" Mamis!!). I will do my best to place Pregnant Mamis in groups with others who are due near their due date, who live in their general area as they due and who will be staying at home or returning to the workplace as they will. As I am limited by the due dates, locations and work plans of the Mamis who join Mamistad, I cannot promise everyone a group that is a perfect match. Women in the general Arlington area have a better chance of being placed with Mamis near them. I do my best however and sometimes we're all amazed at the awesome groups that come together! This process can take a while and I thank you for understanding that I do the best I can while juggling this with taking care of my own little one. :)
Finally, Mamistad.com, is under construction and will include lots fun features for Mamis in all stages of motherhood.
