The Manchester Jazz Festival returns to the city for 10 days of events from Friiday 26 July, with music at a variety of venues across town. At the centre of it all is the Festival Pavilion Teepee in Albert Square.
On weekdays (Monday-Friday) during the event the Pavilion Teepee hosts free performances from a variety of jazz acts. There is a bar and there are food outlets nearby. It's a good relaxed atmosphere and of course is under cover in case of unseasonal showers. The Teepee bar usually has 2 or 3 real ales on.
I have put a start time of 5pm but I will try to be there a bit earlier.Come along whenever you can! If you have the afternoon available, the music gets underway at 1 with the John Ellis Trio, and at 2.30 improvisational group Cusp take the stage, with Liverpool's The Weave rounding off the free music from 5pm.
We will remain at the MJF Pavilion Teepee till around 6.30pm After, we can explore some of the pubs close to Albert Square and the Town Hall, including possibly the bar of the recently opened Albert Square Chophouse and some of the old pubs in the side streets off the square. If coming later, text me on[masked] to check our whereabouts.
