The Manchester Buddhism Sangha offers weekly Buddhist meditation and discussion sessions. These take place on Friday evenings, from 6:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Anyone with an interest in beginning or continuing their Buddhist practice is welcome to attend. These meetings will honor all Buddhist traditions. Attendance is free, but if you wish to make a small donation to help defray the expenses for renting the room, that will be appreciated. Enter by: The door to the annex (north of the church building) on Union Street.
Park: On the Street
Please arrive between 6:30-6:45 p.m. (due to security requirements, the door will be locked promptly at 6:50 p.m.)
Other: We mostly sit in chairs (provided) for the meditation. If you wish to sit on the floor, please bring your own cushion. Please remove your shoes for the meditation session.
- 6:55 p.m. - Bell
- Opening chant
- Silent meditation – 30 minutes (includes 5 minutes of walking meditation)
- Closing chant
- Short break
- Dharma teaching (about 20 minutes) followed by discussion (light refreshments provided)
- 8:30 p.m. – meeting ends
Please note: The texts of the chants will be provided, and the discussion session will generally involve listening to an audio dharma talk. On occasion we will read from a short published dharma teaching.
