Sounds to me like you'd be happier with the Sunday/Monday gaming socials and the Wednesday quizzes. The regular locations make it easy to find people. Theres guaranteed to be group members at those, the event host will always be there and if it appears from the Meetup Board that no-one will show the host will cancel the event in advance. These convention-type Meetups, from what I gather (never been to one) are more of a do-your-own-thing with the possibility of meeting people you know. The socials and quiz nights have a more rigid format, which suits some people better.

Ekkk it's more of an event really. I spent most of it on my own yesterday and had an amazing time. Its been so funny seeing everyone dressed up.
This surely defeats the object of a meetup then if everyone is doing their own thing!!
Not really because people can always post on here and find out if anyone is around and meet.
The good thing about this one is that you know people who will be in the area and you might be able to meet. A lot of the time you're hunting for comics/whatever so there's no real need to wait around for people.
I found my internet was bad so didn't get to see many posts.
Was my first time at comic con too and didn't expect anyone to show me around or make sure I had a good time.
Glad someone had a good time on their own at first comic con.
I'll take that as a no... I'll just hang around my own...cheers

I'll be there after 11 too as I've managed to get my friends dad's ticket as he saw the queues on the news and can't face it!
But British folk love the queues...

Meetup has allowed me to meet people I wouldn't have met naturally - they're totally different than me.
