Want to get photos and images working for your organisation? Interested in how the archives of the city could also help? Well, the February Net Tuesday meetup could help!
Through a small project funded by the Museum, Libraries and Archives Association's Big Society Fund, Manchester Archives - part of Manchester City Council - is investigating how to improve access to the archives using web-based and digital tools - and how ideas gathered during the project can feed into the development of a proposed new archives centre when Manchester Central Library reopens to the public in late 2013.
This meeting of Net Tuesday will provide an overview of the digital work Manchester Archives have done so far, some of the findings and ideas from workshops carried out with users, and discuss ideas for an upcoming hack day that will take place sometime in April / May.
If you have an interest in community history or open data, or have ideas on how historical material can be provided using new interfaces, then we'd love you to come along and contribute ideas.
You can find out more about Manchester Archives on the Manchester City Council website , find some of the materials on Flickr and follow them on Twitter
