Cycle ride to watch The Tour de France at Woodhead Pass

  • July 6, 2014 · 10:30 AM

Meet at 10:30 at my house in Marple (or join us anywhere along the route), then a leisurely, scenic cycle ride through Glossop to Hadfield and a stop for refreshments at around 10:45 at Dolly's Café in Hadfield. Leave the café at 12:30, then a leisurely, traffic-free cycle along to the end of the Longdendale Trail to the Woodhead Pass to watch the Tour de France cyclists shoot past.  Aiming to arrive there at about 1:30, just before the caravan passes. The first cyclists should arrive between 3:13-3:30.

Then a leisurely cycle back for a couple of well-deserved beers.

Note that the trail has some gravel sections, so to avoid punctures, a bike with knobbly tyres is strongly recommended.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
