Manchester Swedish Language Meetup Group Message Board › God jul och gott nytt år!
OK, it’s a *bit* early, but I’d just like to wish everyone a great Christmas and fantastic New Year.
What a great year 2013 has been! Apart from our fortnightly Meetups in Manchester, we’ve had several games of Svenskt Scrabble, our annual Crayfish Party, a meal at The Salt Bar (new Scandinavian restaurant), concerts by First Aid Kit, Ane Brun and our very own Erika Öhman and her sister. The group has also almost doubled in size this year – we’ll soon be 200-strong.
Just a reminder of what’s happening over the next few weeks:
• Thursday 5th December (tomorrow!) – our last Meetup at the Premier Inn in Manchester for this year
Next week there are two (count them - TWO!) Christmas parties
• Weds 11th December – Lucia Fest at IKEA in Manchester - still places available
• Friday 13th December – Party at The Salt Bar in Macclesfield. This is now full, but feel free to join the waiting list. See you at from 7:00pm in The Castle pub next door.
I’m pleased to see that a few party animals are coming tomorrow, as well as coming to both parties!
There’s no Meetup on Thursday 20th December, as lots of people go away for Christmas.
The first Meetup of the New Year is on Friday (not Thursday!), 4th January. From then on, Meetups revert to the normal pattern – every two weeks on a Thursday.
A few people with young children have asked about a Meetup for parents and young kids. A great idea. The simplest way to get this off the ground is to pick a suitable date and venue, invite everyone, and then hopefully, lots of parents and kids will turn up. If anyone has some suggestions, I’m more than happy to help them organise it, though as my own “child” is 24, I’m going to struggle to get him along!
As always, it you’ve any ideas about how we could improve things or any suggestions for new Meetups (especially if you’re willing to organise and host them), then please do contact me.
Thanks to you all for your support and for making 2013 such a great year.
Here’s to an even better 2014 – God jul och gott nytt år!
