Sunday walk: Long, hard walk: 17 miles - Two of the Three Yorkshire 3 Peaks

  • Apr 6, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

This is a 2 part walk that allows you to leave after Peak 1 (6 miles), join in at 12.30pm for Peak 2 (11 miles) or complete the whole thing (17 miles).  There will be short regular stops for food and fluids but please note you should be confident in your ability to complete your chosen section/the whole thing.  There is the option to leave after the first section, join us for the second section.

The first section is Pen-y-Ghent (Peak 1) and will be 6 miles up and down.  We need to complete this in two hours in order to meet any members joining us at 12.30pm for the second section so pace will be steady but constant.  We'll use clear paths but there will be some scrambling involved and some short sections will be muddy/slippy if there is recent rainfall.

We'll pass back through Horton in Ribblesdale, where we'll stop for a short(ish) lunch and start the second section at 12.30pm.

The second section is Ingleborough (Peak 3) and is 11 miles in total.  We'll be going up the route that most people come down.  This is a long and steady ascent.  Paths are again clear but there will be muddy sections if there's been recent rainfall.  We'll return to Horton in Ribblesdale around 5.30 - 6pm

Great fun, lovely group of people. Andrew (walk organiser) was well organised and looked after us all!
