If you wish, fill this space with some info about you, what made you think about joining the group, your interest in philosophy, whatever.....

Although I studied a bit of philosophy at college, it didn't have much effect on my thinking. But as I've got older (and I'm quite old already) I realise that my my underlying moral and political assumptions differ from most of the people I meet. And I'd like to take time out, with other Group members, to step back and examine some of those ideas. My ideas are "out of fashion"- but are they old-fashioned? Which links to the question-are there universal ideas, other that maths and logic? So I'm interested in feminist and marxist philosophy-but I'm really interested in discussing newer ideas-or ideas that are new to me.

Do you have a suggestion for a book we might read and discuss one month?

Hello! I'm Pia. I've been wanting to join you armchair philosophers in The LLoyds for some time. But practical considerations and fear/embarrassment kept me away. But I'm free on March 20th so I hope to join you all.
