About the project: As a partner of Givology, More than Me helps little girls get off the street and into school in one of the poorest slums in the world. In Liberia, over 60% of the children are out of school, the majority girls. As families try to survive on less than $1 a day, there is often no extra money for school fees, shoes, uniforms, and everything else a girl needs to get to school. More than Me not only pays for all costs related to school including lunch, but they have staff that work closely with the girls and the community to help her succeed. Over 10% of their girls are first in their class! A serious issue, however, remains. When school is over, these girls are back on the dangerous streets. Through the
"I Promise Project", MTM will operate a safe place for the girls to stay after school. They will provide tutoring, therapy, vocational training, class trips and an opportunity to participate in sports, art, and yoga classes that teach self-esteem and soft skills that will make them successful beyond their basic education.
