Can you teach me how to be a scrapbooker?
This group is for experienced scrapbookers to work on their own projects. People are generally helpful but they come to the crops to work on their projects not to teach.
If you are a brand new scrapbooker, you might want to start off with a class at a local scrapbook store (LSS)...Portrait Bug! in Manhattan. You can check in with member Julie at her blog. You can also check out this page on About.com that has links to sites discussing getting started in scrapbooking.
What do I bring to a crop?Bring whatever you need to complete your current projects. We don't have supplies for sale. While most members are more than willing to share, if you know you are going to need something, you should bring it. Don't forget your cutters and adhesive and especially those photos!
A basic tool kit might include a cutting board, paper trimmer, scissors, craft knife, tweezers, ruler, bone folder, journaling pen, pencil, eraser and several kinds of photo safe adhesive.
People often bring snacks to our crops - please feel free to bring something, but don't feel obligated to do so.
Where can I go in Manhattan for supplies?Portrait Bug! in Manhattan. Otherwise, pickings are kind of slim in the city. We've started a discussion on the message board with places people have found - some are outside the city, but pretty easy to get to on the subway. You can find the discussion board
here.
Okay, so how else do I get supplies? There are shopping links on the discussion board
above, or you can see
another helpful discussion board with links to many online scrapbooking resources. (Please feel free to add your own!)
I would like to offer products or services for sale or advertise my event to your members. May I?We would love to hear about your products, services, and events - we are always looking for new sources! You may post your contact information in the Independent Consultants thread on our message board.
If you are selling scrapbooking-related products or services, feel free to place a
single post in this
thread.
If you are hosting a crop or a class within a reasonable distance from Manhattan, we'd love to hear about it, but please only start one thread for your event.
If you would like to offer something else to us, or have any questions, please
email me.
Thank you for sharing your information with us!
Can I bring my children to a crop?Scrapbooking children aged 15 and older are welcome to join. They may attend crops after RSVP'ing. All other children should not attend.
Please
email me if you have other questions.
