NYC Based American Tribal Style® Belly Dance Troupe Manhattan Tribal, directed by Mimi Fontana, is the first all ATS® Dance Company in NYC.

Here you will find class listings, events we are hosting, gatherings we're attending and an online community of dancers celebrating this new to New York dance format.

We'll also be featuring events hosted or recommended by our Sister Troupes in Westchester Tribal CT and Hamsa Tribal in Staten Island NY.

About the founder of this meet up:
A life-long dancer, athlete and musician, Mimi Fontana has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe and the UK. After over a decade of performing and studying various Middle-Eastern influenced dance formats, Mimi found her home in American Tribal Style Belly Dance.

In 2006 she founded Manhattan Tribal, New York City’s first ATS dance company. Studying with Carolena Nerricio, creator of ATS and Fat Chance Belly Dance of San Francisco, Mimi received multiple certifications in General Skills and Teacher Trainings and was granted Sister Studio status in 2008. FCBD Sister Studios goal is to bring the same quality instruction you would receive at the San Francisco home studio to dance classes throughout the world.

In addition to the 8 plus ATS classes she teaches weekly in Manhattan and workshops taught nationally and overseas, Mimi is a Fitness Coach, inspiring and educating people about personal fitness and nutrition and an AFAA group fitness instructor.

Mimi and Manhattan Tribal bring ATS belly dance to the New York City area in it’s true format, while adding a NY flavor and are known for their high energy and exciting combinations. Manhattan Tribal is a not for profit affiliate of The Field NPO of New York City.
