There's joy and therapeutic value in Hiking Meditation!
Walking and Hiking Meditation is meditation in movement. During a session of Hiking Meditation, we use our sensory faculty, feeling, sensation, perception, sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. The experience of hiking becomes the basis of developing greater awareness through the practice of whole-hearted concentration.
We make joyous effort to stay with our sensory experience, to stay with the hiking itself. We make joyous effort to let go of all the mundane thinking we usually take with us on our usual hikes. To leave behind our worried mind, planning mind and even our problem solving mind; to simply be present to what is actually happening within the body experience.
The experience of Hiking Meditation is a healthy and a potentially healing practice.
