Umami is an excellent Japanese and Sushi restaurant and bar in Cow Hollow, from the same owners as Mamacita and The Tipsy Pig. It has a beautiful bar area, a center table with bar stools, and reasonable space. Though, it can get busy on Thursdays, so for this one it'd really help if you can come earlier than later to help hold down some space. Umami is on Webster St, almost at Union St ("See Eyeware" at the corner).

We'll hang out near the bar and center table area, but you're free to order whatever you want. They have both a sushi and "hot kitchen" menu, including even a Korean Bi Bim Bap hot pot.

For the curious, Umami means one of the five basic tastes that your tongue can sense. The other four might as well be wasabi, more wasabi, pickled ginger, and sak?.
