Learn to Make Sushi Night

  • Apr 11, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • Aubrey's Apartment

Making sushi can be an art, so Aubrey has offered to show us the basics of how to do it at home!

We'll make everything that night.  Aubrey will be supplying the staples needed like the sushi mats, sushi rice, wasabi and ginger.  Everyone should bring the inside ingredients for one roll and from there we can make variations.  Below are some sushi recipes you can take a look at for inspiration.  Also, bringing extra wine, sake or side salads would be great!

Dragon Roll (tempura shrimp from TJs)

Unagi Roll

Mediterrasian Sushi Recipes

Sweet chili chicken roll (fusion)

Spicy tuna roll,

Buffalo chicken roll (def. not traditional..)

Many more on SushiDay

I'm thinking I'll try my hand on making some tempura shrimp. If that turns into a disaster I can grab some sushi quality fish to use on rolls, nigiri, shashimi, etc

Yippee - I'm in! Aubrey, let me know what you think we'll be short on at this point and I'll try to bring that. Do you know if Marina Meats sells sushi grade fish? If so I can maybe bring stuff for spicy tuna rolls?

Haven't been to marina meats! You can always ask the deli guy at Safeway what's freshest or if work near the ferry building their fish is very fresh. Or bring some non traditional ingiedients or salad!
