Conversation Spanish Class

Here's everything you need to know.  And if there's something we didn't cover, just ask!

WHO IS THE GROUP FOR?

Spanish speakers of all levels are welcome, including native speakers. Don't worry about how much (or how little) Spanish you know, we remember what it's like to be a beginner, so we're very understanding, patient and helpful.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT A MEET UP?

Our meet ups are fun and informal.  Our group is more than a place to practice your Spanish, it's a place to make friends.  Once a month we meet outside the cafe at different places to experience various aspects of Hispanic culture.  Some previous places we've been to include Hispanic art exhibits at the High Museum, Plaza Fiesta and various Hispanic/Latin restaurants in the metro Atlanta area.

Also, be sure to subscribe to the group message board.  Last minute changes in meeting locations will be posted on the message board.  Occasionally other notifications will be posted on the message board as well.

CAN I ARRIVE LATE?

Absolutely. Unless you receive a notification that tells you otherwise, we officially meet from 12-2PM, but we almost always stay until 3 or 4PM and often go out to eat as a group afterwards.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

You don't need to bring anything, but I do suggest bringing pen and paper to take notes because you're going to learn a lot!  Some members bring a dictionary as well.  The cafe has WI-FI so feel free to bring a computer or tablet if you like.

WHAT ARE SOME GOOD RESOURCES TO HELP ME LEARN SPANISH?

This question comes up frequently, so I put together a web page you can look at that suggests a lot of free resources you can find on the internet and a few other reasonably priced products that I feel are worth the money.

Great links to learn Spanish for Free

Almost everyone asks for help with verb conjugations, so here's a link to a review of a great product that offers an alternative to the old fashioned rote memorization process of learning how to conjugate verbs.

Also be sure to check out my blogs, many members enjoy them and find them helpful.

Today was my first time meeting with the group. The experience exceeded all my expectations. Although I did not know anyone before I arrived. From the beginning they felt like family. The organizer, Rodney, and the other members made everyone feel at ease. Although I practically only knew the word Hola! I felt comfortable listening and then practicing the SpanishI heard. Thank you for the experience. I look forward to our next Meet Up.
