The Pinnacle! An 8.7 Moderate Hike on the AT to the Pinnacle!
"Walk the Appalachian Trail for spectacular views of Hawk Mountain, the Lehigh Valley, and Blue Rocks. Many Appalachian Trail thru-hikers claim the views at the Pinnacle are the best views on the Pennsylvania stretch of the Appalachian Trail. On this hike, you'll get a workout climbing up the rocky path to the top (be sure to wear hiking boots). You then get a reprieve as you make a gentle descent on a wide dirt road. This is an extremely popular trail with hikers."

Please remember we hike the pace of the group and it can vary. We take breaks as necessary and have a guide in the front in addition to a "sweeper" in the back for each group of hikers and which helps make sure that no hiker is left behind. If you get upset because someone has to rest at the top of a hill etc. then please find another group! We are very supportive and encouraging with no pressure on speed but focus on safety while leaving no trace.
Fido is Welcome on this Hike!
Mike:
If a low number of people attend this hike, guess it means we all drive solo to the trail? Whats the address and rendevouz point there?
December 5
I would love to join, but I do not have a car and can't find a way to get to the carpool location on time. Is anyone driving close to Bethesda, MD by any chance ??
December 5
I live near the Centerville Park & Ride would like to meet/carpool/give gas $ with someone.
December 3
I will be coming from Spotsylvania and will look into the Glen Forest Metro Station to see how far it is from me. I can get to Centerville in less than an hour so I was hoping someone would want to meet there.
November 26
For those of us in DC, I think the most logical carpool location is the Forest Glen Metro station. I plan to change the hike time to 10:30 am (considering the 3:15 drive from this point and a ~5 hour hike duration). That means a 7:00am carpool time at Forest Glen Metro; wmata.com also shows that buses arrive there before 7:00am. Check that site for bus schedules from your origin.
November 25
Hi, I would love to come but I dont have a car and would need a ride from DC metro area. Anyone is coming from here?
