A 10 Mile Moderate Hike in Gunpowder State Park: Hereford Area with Optional Post Hike Meal!
A walk through mixed hardwood and conifer woodlands along and above scenic Gunpowder Falls. Circle Gunpowder Falls at arguably its prettiest and most scenic section. The wrought iron Masemore Road Bridge was built in 1898. A wooden pole sits just to the left of the bridge, pointing out the white-blazed Gunpowder South Trail. Follow the trail upstream over mossy rocks and fallen tree trunks for 500 feet to Raven Rock Falls, the stone ruins along Panther Branch, and views of hemlocks clinging to the canyon above Mingo Branch are just a few of the sights along the way. You might also encounter red fox, beaver, and wild turkey.Scenery includes a large variety of wildlife, the Gunpowder River, Prettyboy Dam, Varied Flora, and Rock Formations.

The Baltimore carpool spot seems to be pretty far south of Baltimore. Is there anyone else coming from Baltimore who would like to carpool closer, perhaps from the park and ride on I-70?

If you are on the wait list, you will get an e-mail as slots become available. It is a “first come first serve” system for available slots. Slots are open to everyone, whether on the wait list or not. However, being on the wait list will make certain that you are notified when open slots become available as well as letting me know to look for another leader if the trails (and parking) can accommodate it and still comply with our Leave No Trace pledge. Click the following link for how to get off the wait list and RSVP “yes”, http://www.midatlantichiking.co...
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need further assistance as that is what I am here for.
