Volunteer! Weed Warriors Along Muddy Branch Greenway Trail

Receive a MONTH of UNLIMITED FREE Hikes with The Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group for Volunteering for This Weed Warrior Event

Active MEMBERS of The Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group who participate in this volunteer event will receive a month of free hikes (regular 2 dollar hikes only, sorry, no free camping trips or special events) with The Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group courtesy of Kellie. The free hikes will be hikes you attend for the 30 day time period immediately following this volunteer event. These are provided by me personally, and are a token of my appreciation for helping us take care of some of the trails and areas we frequent and helping us to build a stronger community which is a pledge of our group! In order to receive your free hikes, you MUST RSVP on this page (contacting me after the event to let me know you were there but did not sign up will not result in receipt of this incentive). After the event, please confirm with me that you did attend and participated in the event for its duration. Thanks so much for your time and for participating in this community building event. Not only is this for a great cause, it will be a ton of fun too and I appreciate that you are considering helping us to improve this outstanding area in such a state of need!

Where:

Muddy Branch Greenway Trail
Gaithersburg-to-Potomac, MD

Meeting locations in the park will vary. Please check the Muddy Branch Alliance Web site (www.muddybranch.org) for the next location. You can contact Ken Bawer after 9:00AM the morning of the event at [masked].

When:

Next-to-last Saturday of each month, from 10 AM to 1 pm. Rain or shine.

What:

Join Weed Warrior Supervisor Ken Bawer to manually remove invasive shrubs and vines. The Muddy Branch Weed Warrior Project will be crucial to controlling the spread of non-native invasive (NNI) plants in this stream valley and in one of the most unique parks in the county system. You'll learn what NNIs are, the problems they create, and then help pull and cut them. You'll also learn to identify key native plants along the way. SSL hours available for students; bring gloves and tools; dress for the outdoors. Visit www.WeedWarrior.org for more details about Weed Warriors.
