Hey Eagle Kris! Just realized you'll be on the paddle at Mallow's Bay in August. When we drove to Mallow's Bay from Springfield VA in the spring it took us about 50 minutes. See ya there!
Hi Kristine. All your shots on the Mattawoman creek paddle are so crystal clear and beautiful. Were you using a waterproof camera. Can you email me with a recommendation?
My good land camera got dunked on a hike across a swollen stream so I need to replace. Many thanks.
Hi, Kristine, Is this the Saturday Chestertown paddle or the Monacacy rivEr paddle Monday?
Sounds good. I paddle year-round, but when the water gets a little warmer I'll post a discussion and start gathering a list of people who are available to paddle on Fridays. On March 21 I'll be heading out to Florida. I am going to paddle from Key Largo to Key West. I will be on the water for 10 days.
Pete
Hi Kristine. Last fall you sent me a greeting. As of Jan 1 I reduced my hours and now have Fridays off. Are you interested in seeing who is available for occasional Friday paddling? I tried to do this on Monday, but didn't have much luck since so few have this day off. Let me know what you think and I'll start a discussion group on it if you think it has potential.
Pete
Hi Kristine, Did we talk about kayaking at the December Happy Hour?I have a friend who is looking for other people to kayak with.

Once at Violett's Lock if the C&O looks to be in the same condition, we could drive three miles up the road, leave a vehicle and then put out at Pennylock instead of paddling up the C&O.
Overall, the run is fun and interesting, nothing too difficult and usually takes a couple hours depending on how much play in the river.
thanks,
Garry
Hi Kris -
Most of the paddling for the Violett's Lock loop is in the Patomac River - For a normal run you put in at the Lock, paddle across to the Virginia side (flat water) and run a class I/II channel then paddle back across to Maryland side (flat water but flowing), portage across to the C&O then paddle back up to the car. The last time I ran it the C&O was almost empty; first time I had seen it like that. Don't know what the state might be once there. (I'm running out of space) next.
Thanks for the greeting. Normally I have off on Mondays and work Fridays because I am a children's pastor. But, our church budget is tight and I volunteered to reduce my hours, so I may have Fridays off also staring next January. Most Saturdays and Sundays I am not free to paddle.
You and anyone else are welcome to look at my paddling pics on facebook (Pete Hohmann, Mechanicsville,
VA, my pics are open to the public, you don't have to be on friend list)
