Introduction

I'm originally from Yokohama, Japan. 65+ years old and I have three grown children, three granddaughters, and two granddogs.

How did you discover this meetup?

It has been over six months since I joined this club. I wanted to thank a few people that made this experience life-changing: Thanks to Rose Cupelli for finding this group for me; Thanks to Diego for helping me during my second hike in DC (without his kindness I may not have continued); Last but not least, thanks to Kellie for doing a wonderful job organizing and leading different hikes for the group.

What are you looking for out of this group? (walks, transition from walking to hiking, easy, moderate, or strenuous hikes, ultra hiking, or trail maintenance work?) Please state all that applies to help me plan activities to meet your needs...

I like a little bit of everthing: sneaker walks, trail-blazing, scrambling...I love it all! My goal is to participate in strenuous hikes that are rewarded with gorgeous views and amazing experiences.

  • Broken ankle ouch! I broke my right ankle two years ago falling off my bike, LOL! But I was back in the saddle after 8 weeks, then I trained for five weeks for the Seagull Century. Cycling is one of the best rehab you can do for your ankle because it has no impact. Get well and hope to see you soon.

  • You won't need any tools. Trail is not as littered as I feared.

  • Hi Yoshiko,
Welcome to Washington Kayak Club. Most of our meetups have ended for the season, but some of us paddle all winter with wet suits or dry suits. Your kayak will do great on most of our meetups (just a few meetups per year require a longer sea kayak). Let us know how we can help you. So glad you can join us!
