I used to be a runner and hiker; now I'm a walker who wants to get back to hiking. I enjoy hiking with fun and interesting groups of people. I like being out of doors and not in a gym. (I also like to eat, but that's probably not relevant.)
I used the website provided in the Washington Post giving information on hiking.
Moderate -- I walked 9 miles this past Sunday, mostly level terrain. Took us under 5 hours and I really felt it toward the end. I'm trying to get back in shape after breaking both femurs. I'm doing pretty well, but more frequent hiking, rather than just walking around my neighborhood, would be good for me, I think. And, as I noted above, I do love the outdoors: the woods, lakes, streams.
So far, have enjoyed the hikes, the splitting into small groups, pacing, and the interesting people with whom to talk while walking. This is about my 3d (maybe 4th?) hike with the group. Okay, I agree with the first sentence, but I now have to say this is my 21st hike with the Group since January 1, 2012 (Harper's Ferry hike)

Hello Betsy! I enjoyed our conversations on the trail. You are a very nice person who has had very interesting experiences, thus far. You like me are enjoying life!
Hi Betsy:
No, you did not miss my Friday Evening DC Parks Hike :)
The hike is not until Friday, May 24th. You are two months
early!
My first hike this year will be on Saturday, April 13th. The
hike will take in the two campuses of American University
as well as the GWU Mt. Vernon Campus and Georgetown
University. Hope you can make it!
See you on a hike soon!
Blessings,
Weber
It was very nice to meet you today! Enjoy Charleston and hope to see you on another hike!
Betsy, would it be closer for you to drive to Frederick and I pick you up there. Tom has asked to carpool as well and will pick him up somewhere along i-70. Of course, you welcome to drive to columbia. My car has a small back seat area (convertible) but is comfortable if the person in the back isn't tall (sit sideways). :)
Hi Betsy - Please do go ahead and sign up - I'll open RSVPs for a little while longer. Hope you could make it! :- )) Afsaneh
Whew! I am grateful that you let me know about the aftermath and glad you went to Sibley. Have fun in Botswana! A neighbor on my street grew up there with his family.
Thank you for your lovely comments tonight. Wow - it's such an honor to have facilitated new insights for you, as I can tell you are a true
connoisseur. I do set goals to look for universal truths that can be applied to my own life, any of our lives, and with that lens, the "art" in the play truly pops at me!
Lovely seeing you tonight - I don't know if I gave you all the handouts (Act 1, 2 and half of Act 3) Thanks again, Afsaneh
Hi Betsy, wow... enjoy Stratford and hope to hear more of this venue and your time there! Safe travels and look forward to meeting you, soon! :- )) Afsaneh
A personal welcome, Betsy! My goal is exactly that, to "enhance" the experience of Shakespeare, and enable members to enjoy his masterful insights into the human condition. Look forward to meeting you, soon. :- )) Afsaneh
Hi, Betsy - how was the Dolomites? I admit I was a bit envious... but I do hope it was a good trip for you. Maybe I'll see you in September when I start hiking again.
