Introduction

Hi from Australia. I will be living in DC from early December and as an experienced hiker, I would love to meet some like minded people and see some of your gorgeous countryside in the winter.

How did you discover this meetup?

Website

What are you looking for out of this group? (walks, transition from walking to hiking, easy, moderate, or strenuous hikes, ultra hiking, or trail maintenance work?) Please state all that applies to help me plan activities to meet your needs...

Any length walks/hikes are of interest to me. I have done lots of trekking in various parts of the world.

  • Wow, so nice of you to say that about our group. It is always nice to feel appreciated but you must know that it goes both ways. We appreciate our members who make organizing a group of close to 10,500 hikers with over 100 scheduled hikes an enjoyable task, rather than a daunting one. My adult son’s best friend, Ted, is from Australia. He has dual citizenship and makes journey back "home" yearly for "farming season". How long will you be visiting our area? Hope I get to meet you!

  • I'm having the same problem keeping everything straight, very hectic time of year. I'll see you at Cosi at 9:30.

  • Welcome Claire! This is an very easy group to join, you just call one of the leaders of the hike listed to ask to reserve a spot on the bus... and show up at the location for the bus. During the coldest months we carpool as there are usually not enough folks to fill a bus.
Go to the website http://www.capitalhikingclub.org/home... and you will find lots of details that may be missing from the Meetup site. See you soon!
(P.S. you might want to add your photo to the meet up site)
