Introduction

I like walking and hiking a lot. I love nature in DC/MD/VA.

How did you discover this meetup?

I just wanted to find a DC hiking group and found this. I like the front photo.

What are you looking for out of this group? (walks, transition from walking to hiking, easy, moderate, or strenuous hikes, ultra hiking, or trail maintenance work?) Please state all that applies to help me plan activities to meet your needs...

After the surgeries on my knee, I cannot do any sports. I would like to attend only the easier ones.

What Hiromi is saying about this Meetup Group

That was a very nice one. Ken, Bill and the nice and friendly hikders, thank you very much!

  • Hi Hiromi,
Welcome to the hiking and history group. I try to lead a hike every four weeks or so, but I also post events on the calendar that might interest 'history buffs'. If you have some ideas about places or events, please feel free to post also.

  • Hi Hiromi-

I'm taking names for pickups, so you're on my list. I'll be in touch ahead of the party to let you know when I'll be at the Metro to pick you up.

  • This coming weekend hike to the Mason-Dixon and Amish area might be a great first hike...

  • Hi Hiromi,

Great that you'll be coming with us on a hike! The Big Schloss hike has lot of ascent and descent, so not sure it's the best for a new hiker with recent knee issues. Maybe it would be good to start off on a hike with a little less elevation to see how it works for you. We always list the elevation gain/drop in the hikes, which gives an indication of the difficulty. 1000 or so feet is pretty moderate, 2000+ is kind of steep. Let me know if I can help more! --Andy

  • Hi Hiromi,

Welcome to the Capital Hiking Club! We have some good hikes this fall to explore the wilds, and usually plenty of friendly people to share the trails. Hope to see you on a club hike soon! --Andy
