We're excited to announce a late addition to our calendar - Stephen Kahmann and Brendan Heussler have agreed to present some of their latest work to our group. On Wednesday, January 30th at 6:00, they'll present 'Unstructured to Structured - Semantic Annotation':
Using data shared by the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) and Anzo, an application developed by Cambridge Semantics Inc., Stephen Kahmann and Brendan Heussler discover and extract data from unstructured documents into a graph model. They then link these entities to existing semantic data, and turn this “content into context”. Stephen and Brendan will discuss the advantages of storing entities in a graph model over a relational model (adding data, accessing data, linking data), and how Semantic Technologies provide real benefits for annotation and extraction of unstructured content.
Brendan is a recent graduate of Connecticut College with a major in Computer Science and minor in Economics. He is currently a Software Engineer at Inovex Information Systems working with Semantic Data.
Stephen recently graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Computer Engineering. He now works at Inovex Information Systems in Hanover, MD as a Software Engineer working with Semantic and Cloud Technologies.
Doors will open at 6:00 at the Inovex offices with pizza and drinks awaiting, with the talk beginning soon after. Hope to see you all there!
