POTLUCK

No specific topic has been posted for this meeting so we will have an "intellectual potluck",  asking that attendees help out and bring some ideas for topics to Sunday's meetup. We will democratically select one and see what societal mysteries we can solve philosophically.  Hope to see you there.

Since the usual meetup venue, the Student Services Center at Montgomery College Park/Silver Spring will be closed for the holidays, Ludmilla has offered to host this event at her home in University Park, MD, which is a subdivision of College Park and not that far from our usual location. Address will be provided by e-mail to those who RSVP "yes".

I found this article on BBC “Future”- I thought members may like to read it in light of our discussion topics last week.

The "Deacon" referenced in this article is Terrence Deacon, an anthropologist at Berkeley, who is interested in biological anthropology and neuroscience and has written a book on how the mind emerged from matter. He is also interested in rituals/traditions as mechanisms for the evolution and maintenance of social solidarity. Thanks for the heads-up, Bharati.
