I must say there's some strong language used here in regards to a very simple question I asked. There's no need for that at all. I also disagree that 'free' wasn't mentioned. It clearly was. I don't care 'bout the 20 euro's too but if this is going to be a flashmob where you have to pay to participate I guess that's far beyond the meaning of social media. And that's my 2 cents...

my 2 cents:
I don't think participants were/are expecting a wedding party. ;)
so let's not over-organise this and just let things happen.
- choose a public (or private) place that can handle 300p
- let participants print name badges to put on
- do some kind of fun collection/donation for the cause

I welcome anything that is organized, especially around social media. 1 of the reason's I believe in this new interactive communication is transparency and dialogue. The danger of organizing a Social Day, already a contradiction as every day is a social day, on behalf of Mashable, is that you help them with promoting themselves. Was/is that the goal or was it a real social day? So I hope the communication becomes transparant again and that you all enjoy a great evening.

This flame thread is already irritating me before it even started! You guys have nothing better to do then whining about a lousy 20 euro for networking and free drinks ? Either pay the damn thing and let's have some fun together next week or go whining in somebody else's mailbox thread! Have some respect for the people making this possible! And if you can sit back, relax and enjoy the evening, 20 euro is not worth complaining... is it ?

Hi Tom, it was never announced it was free. It was announced we would keep fees as low as possible. It's everywhere. But I didn't mention it here, that's why the confusion. So I apologize. It's what happens when you set up a massive event in 9 days. However, just as with Ann whom I called, I prefer to talk about this elsewhere: mail, Twitter, phone, whatever. Doing it here is spamming the group since all posts are mailed here. Thanks.

Please allow me to be confused: upon announcement it was clearly announced to the public as being a free event (due to the sponsors), now all of the sudden it turns out to be a paid event. What made this change necessary, it seems sponsors were found...
