Posted by Phil Crampe June 28, 2010 at 3:06 PMHello everyone. I'm new to Boston, just moved here from California. I'm Chief Architect, Enterprise 2.0 at Verizon and am looking forward to networking with other industry professionals. See you all on Wednesday. ~ http://twitter.com/jnegrett...
Posted by Johnny Dean Negretti June 28, 2010 at 6:26 AM@Michael - Hah! It's a very funny set of imaginary, satirical tableaux that ran through my head at the idea of a throng of "social networkers" craving their virtuality and *asynchronous communication* having long forgotten the foreign world of "RL", stumbling clumsily in this *other-worldly* ambiance that's so alien to them!Of course this was *humorously* intended.(Humor:Something else that's undeniably a thing of the past.)but you *did* find it necessary to mention a "recent study"How literal!
Posted by George June 25, 2010 at 2:52 PMcool - I'm in Boston next week. Would love to celebrate the social media day IRL
Posted by Joakim Ditlev June 25, 2010 at 3:58 AM@George why would they freeze? You think people that use social media to communicate can't do so in real life? Actually the opposite happens. I was at the 140 Conference meetup last night and everyone was very talkative and outgoing. There were many first time meetings and introductions. There was a recent study that showed that those involved in social networks, rather than locking themselves in a room to chat all night, have become much more social in real life.
Posted by Michael Durwin June 23, 2010 at 8:26 AM@David Lanphear- They'll all meet and freeze like ice sculptures, terrified and thinking, "I don't remember how to perform this ancient 'IRL' ritual from so long ago! How is this done? What are the ancient protocols of this ceremony?"
Posted by George June 22, 2010 at 10:38 PMI say we get some local breweries involved to sponsor! :-) I mean, you can't be social w/o the libations, right?
Posted by Alicia June 22, 2010 at 5:00 PMI propose an hour of small agenda items, with networking afterwards. I think that would be the best of both worlds!
Posted by Kat Hasenauer Cornetta June 21, 2010 at 1:06 PMI vote for Joselin to put this on, he's the preeminent Boston Tweetup personality. And the NERD megatweetup was the best Boston Tweetup I've ever been to.
Posted by Dan Zarrella June 20, 2010 at 12:02 PMChase, I had already signed up and started organizing this event you can help, how did this get switched to you?
Posted by JoselinMane June 20, 2010 at 11:36 AMHey, our crew over at BostInnovation.com would happilly put this on!
Posted by Chase Garbarino June 18, 2010 at 5:40 PMHere's what I want to know: where is Pete Cashmore going to be?
Posted by Kathleen June 17, 2010 at 6:07 PMI recently attended Mashable's Social Media summit in NYC and it was pretty awesome. I'm definitely interested in attending the Boston meet. Lets keep this going!
Posted by Miz June 17, 2010 at 12:42 PMDefinitely interested. Just let me know where.
Posted by Alan Kravitz June 17, 2010 at 11:39 AMwould love to skype in (possibly multi-feed) and chat for a few minutes with your group to learn more about Boston tech trends and just to network with people we otherwise wouldn't have the chance to be in touch with. thinking 10 - 15 minute interview style? want to set this up w/ several locations, please contact jesse @ spearia dot com
