The Social Good Summit is a global event organized internationally by Mashable and in the Philippines by social news network Rappler and local Twitter user group @TweetupMNL. The event aims to bring together the country’s brightest minds and creative thinkers to come up innovative new ways in which digital technologies like social media can be used solve the world’s challenges and make this world a better place - and then translate these ideas to action.
The day-long summit on September 22 is split up into two events.
An invite-only morning session with 50 leaders and shakers. The goal of this morning session is to answer the question, "How can new media and technology create solutions in my community?" We've invited 10 speakers to share experiences and lessons learned in using social media in their respective industries, and to propose solutions to address current challenges.
The morning session takes place at the Greenbelt 3 MyCinema in Makati from 10am to 1pm.
500 people are expected to attend the afternoon conference. Speakers include Mon Jimenez (Secretary, Department of Tourism), Maria Ressa (CEO & Executive Editor, Rappler), Ricky Carandang (Secretary, PCDSPO), Bianca Gonzalez (TV Host, ABS-CBN) and Chris Lao (Anti-cyber bullying advocate). It will also feature a message from Ayala Corp Chairman and CEO Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala.
The afternoon conference takes place at the 3rd Floor of the Stephen Fuller Hall of the Asian Institute of Management in Makati from 3:00-5:30pm. Registration and pre-event activities start as early as 1pm.
Online users can follow the event via a livestream and a live blog on Rappler.com. Twitter users can also follow along using the hashtag #iPHLgood.
