Social Media Arizona (SMAZ) is hosting the Tempe Social Media Day Meetup at MADCAP Theater from 5-7 p.m. Get on the MADCAP stage and give a verbal, in-person Tweet about why you love your favorite social media tool and talk about something great that happened because you used it.

Live music by Bears of Manitou. Food. Fun People. Prizes. Win $100 in Mill Avenue bucks, free admission to the September SMAZ event, specialty coffee from Cartel Coffee Lab and other cool stuff.

After party at Robbie Fox's Public House, just north of the theater.

If you can’t be there, you can Tweet your favorite social media story using #smdayphx and a scrolling Twitterfeed will show it in the MADCAP lobby. SMAZ will live stream the event, too. Watch the event online at www.socialmediaaz.org/smdayphx

For those who are inexperienced users of the medium, a drawing will be held for some coaching on how to have the best social media experiences. More than that, the people at the event are happy to help. Social Media Day is a great way to meet fun, friendly experts.

I popped in last night with my kids after a fun afternoon at Mesa museums and Tempe splash park. The lack of air was a bit of a drag, so we didn't stay long, but good to see folks like Jay Thompson and GRTaylor in the house.

Looks like today is going to be great! We'll be Skyping our friends at the Tucson meet-up, showing a special video made for our event, enjoying Poppa Maize popcorn, lots of treats and having fun with friends we've meet in person, friends we know online and friends we've yet to meet. The best places to park is the City Hall Garage (5th Street & Forest), which is free after 5:00 PM, since you get your 1st hour free and then it's always free after 6:00 PM....after that the Centerpoint Surface Lot (5th & Maple) also gives your 1st hour free and is very close to MADCAP. PARKING REMINDER -
Make sure you park ONLY where it's clearly marked to do so, say in a parking garage. If you're not sure if you can park when you want to, don't! Private companies are notorious for towing immediately along Mill Ave.

Hey everyone! We some free snacks coming from Quiznos, La Bocca and even a few cupcakes. But still might want to bring some cash for drinks, whatever you like from the concession stand and for the after party at Robbie Fox Public House.

Hi Kathy -- SMAZ hosts their two events at MADCAP. There is a great stage, concession stand, live streaming abilities and lots of nearby after party locations. There doesn't seem to be a venue for the Chandler gathering yet. Maybe that group will join us? There's room for everyone.

I am curious: What's the reasoning behind having one in Tempe and one in Chandler? Guessing I will need to pick which I hit up :)
