There has been much discussion recently that democracy has seen its heyday, and that the future belongs to other types of societal structuring. The boldest attempt in this sense has been an article by Eric Li, presenting China as a viable model for how to build a society that avoids the perceived flaws of democracy. Is Li right, or is democracy still the worst form of government except for all others? And if so, what can we do to improve it, if anything? A short suggested reading is available.
