The McDowell Arts Center is hosting the How to Draw Well art classes every Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00pm. Classes are broken up into 2 hour sessions (10:00 for adults/teens, 12:00 for under 12yrs, 2:00 for beginners over 12, 4:00 for color work.) We cover everything from the basic rules of drawing all the way to making cartoon strips and/or comic/manga story pages. You will learn all about : perspective, anatomy (especially faces, hands and how to make characters express emotions) light/shadows, "camera angles"/leading the eye/ page flow and foreshortening. If you've ever wanted to learn how to draw characters and/or make a comic book, comic strip or graphic novel this is the place to be!   It's just $20 for 4 classes for Matthews residents, $25 for non- Matthews residents. That's just about 5 bucks per class! And we've got art supplies for you!  

NEW CLASS BEGINNING APRIL 6th! Make your own monster!

Learn how to make professional quality monster masks!  Supplies provided and of course you keep the masks you make.  It's 2 classes a week for one month all for only $50! You can choose from a variety of class times Mondays through Fridays.  You owe it to yourself to check this one out!
