Postal Book Club Kickoff
This meetup will launch a new book club activity designed to keep us in touch with our Colorado-bound founder, Quen. Here’s the basic idea:
1 Buy a book that’s been on your TBR, make an impulse buy, or re-read something you loved a while back and see if it has withstood the test of time. 2 Buy a spiral notebook or journal. As you read (and annotate -- marginalia is encouraged), fill a few journal pages with doodles, thoughts, rants, stickers, questions, notes, googling results from side-searches, pictures of your dog, recipes, you name it. The crazier, the better. At the end of the six-to-eight week period, we’ll rotate. Participants will be assigned the name / address of the next person on the list, who will read the book and add to the doodling/journaling until – time’s up – we rotate again. Eventually you’ll get your book and journal back, whereupon you can experience other’s comments, thoughts and reactions to the book via old-school paper and pen notebook.
That’s the basic idea. RSVP Yes if you want to participate in the postal book club. You only need to come to the face-to-face June 8 kickoff meetup if you have questions or want to brainstorm more. If you do come on June 8, bring your book and journal / spiral so we can organize the mailing list, talk about what we’ve chosen to read, talk about journaling generally, and just have fun. You can still participate in the Postal Book Club if you don’t come to the kickoff meeting. Just send me a note indicating your desire to be added to the list.
We'll meet in the lobby of the IPIC, proceed upstairs for the Postal Book Club discussion in the bar area, and -- after we're done --what the heck, we may even stay to see a movie. Hugs and happy reading,
I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
