This is a poetry contest for all area High School students—all entries must be sponsored by a teacher. Students will submit their poems by October 1st.
All poems will be judged by a team of Creative Writing teachers. The top 25 Students will compete at the McKinney Performing Arts Center on October 8th! A book of all top poems will also be given out!

Four $100 prizes and a grand prize of $250 will be awarded to the teachers of the top five students who perform!

    • “ It was pretty much the best invitational we've ever had. 33 students submitted poetry, and 23 of them performed Wednesday night. There were 55 people in attendance, including parents, teachers, and friends of the poets. We were able to give out $400 to area High School teachers - this is all thanks to local businesses such as Bob Tomes Ford, The McKinney Business AM Group, Square One Mortgage, The Tutoring Club, and many more! The teachers were estatic, the kids were overjoyed, and everyone came away with way more than they anticipated. I almost can't wait for next year! ”
