Temple Lunch (beside Aberdeen Skytrain)

$15/diner inclusive. Buffet Lunch. See menu below.

11:00 Welcome and temple tour; 30 minute meditation teaching

12:00 Lunch

When you arrive at this temple, you might be looking at the address you've written down and starting to get annoyed: the meetup gave you the wrong address! Or did you write it down wrong?

Neither.

This really IS a temple in a skyscraper!

Either get elevator directly from T&T mall just next to Radisson Hotel to 6 floor Temple or get into 2nd floor of Radisson hotel , there is an elevator beside the Restaurant, you can go by elevator from 2nd floor to 6 floor Temple.

When you step inside, you will be blown away. You would never know it existed from the outside. Within its 6th floor premises, there is a huge meditation room with large gold Bodhisattvas, a library, a Buddhist restaurant and lots more. We'll have an organized tour of the entire premises (in small groups, with a personal tour leader) a meditation and following that a buffet lunch in one of the large rooms of the main temple.

We will be doing other events at temples throughout the year, as we have in past years, but the main advantage of this particular event, besides the delicious temple food, is that it is right beside the Aberdeen Skytrain station, making it one of the easiest events for our non-car driving members to attend.

Tel : [masked]

Free Parking space is available at Corner of Cambie Road and Hazbridge, however, in order to park for free, you must place a large sign inside your windshield saying "Meatless Meetup group Temple lunch free parking ".

Heartfelt thanks to all who made this event happen! The temple is beautiful. Everyone was so welcoming, generous, and gracious. From the meditation, the temple tour, and then the abundant feast - to the cooking demo - it all made for a memorable experience. The food was simply 'the best'.

Thanks for taking the time to write such nice comments. It's gratifying to know that many people had an interesting time and liked the food. Stay tuned for our next (different) temple event, already in the planning stages!

One of the best meetups I think, great organization
    The temple was super beautiful
The organizers were very detail oriented
The meditation session as mentioned before was great
The food was among the best you can have in a temple Won't hesitate to go back again, wish the temple had more English
    Programs regularly

I enjoyed the food, but really appreciate the organization and effort that went into this. Green tea would have been welcome, but a great deal for $15 all the same! The meditation practice was a bonus.

Do you know if the mediation is on the floor or in a chair?
I love meditation but need a chair for my back and posture

A group of volunteers who cooks.

      February 1, 2013

    • Linden Morris D.

Ryan, this is NOT a restaurant in the sense of most restaurants you commonly go to. Often Buddhist temples put on a dinner or luncheon such as the one mentioned here. Might I suggest that attending the event would be the best way to answer your questions regarding the food and who is preparing it. I am certain that you will enjoy the dining options as well as the new experience. Looking forward to seeing you there! :-).

Is there anyway to push this up a week or back a week?? There is an animaladvocacycamp.ca, that same and entire weekend.

I agree, this should be pushed back.

This menu looks fantastic! Do you happen to know if any f the menu items are gluten free?

    January 29, 2013

    • Nancy

I think that the gluten-free folks will find enough items to eat, even with skipping a few of them.

      January 29, 2013

Looks like it will just be me! So 48 attending as of now.
