Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book Modern Buddhism: The Path of Compassion and Wisdom is a perfect guide for understanding the basic teachings of Kadampa Buddhism and applying them to solve the problems of our daily life. Buddhist or not, Kadampa Buddhist teachings help everyone to develop inner peace and find a rich, meaningful life.
This series will be the first of two following Modern Buddhism. In this first series, Gen Nyema will explain what Kadampa Buddhism is, particularly the series of meditations known as “Kadam Lamrim.” The first part of the Lamrim meditations include learning to value our precious human life, seizing its potential, and understanding the Buddhist view on what happens after this life.
Everyone is welcome to attend, no previous experience necessary. Drop in for any class.
Every class will begin with a brief introduction, followed by a guided breathing meditation and the Liberating Prayer. After meditation, there will be a short teaching and time for Q&A. Class will end with Prayers for World Peace.
