24-Hour Tara Retreat
Green Tara is a female Buddha of compassion and wisdom. When we engage in a 24-Hour Tara Retreat, we make prayers to Green Tara every 4 hours for 24 hours. These traditional prayers, called “Liberation from Sorrow,” are recited in English to a beautiful melody.
This year, we’ll be doing a 24-Hour Tara Retreat as a way of ringing in the new year. It will be an auspicious way to say good-bye to 2013 and hello to 2014, as well as a safe, sober, and fun way to celebrate New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Everyone is welcome to attend these prayers, Buddhist or non-Buddhist. You do not have to attend each session in order to participate.
A Slumber Party at Ganden Center
We will meet at the Center at 6pm and go out to dinner together before starting our first session at 8pm. If you want to stay with us overnight, you are welcome to bring a sleeping bag and “camp out” at the Buddhist Center. Sorry, we can’t extend the welcome to pets.
