What is Buddhism? An Introduction

what is buddhism

In some circles, Buddhist meditations, Buddhist quotes, and Buddhist teachings have enjoyed a surge of popularity.  But what is Buddhism, really?  This series will provide a basic introduction to Buddhist thought and the Buddhist way of life.

Whether you’re Buddhist or non-Buddhist, you’ll enjoy seeing how the ancient wisdom of Buddhism is still as relevant as ever to our busy modern lives.  Everyone welcome.

Class Format

Every class will begin with a brief introduction, followed by a guided breathing meditation and the Liberating Prayer. After meditation, there will be a short teaching and time for Q&A.

Class Schedule

February 5: Happiness for all living beings
February 12: What’s in the way of happiness
February 19: What is Buddhist faith?
February 26: The practice of protection
March 5: Who is Buddha?
