Are you limited? - A group inquiry with Nic Higham
“Nic speaks from the depths of his heart, sharing the profound and ancient message of non-duality in a simple, human, and very down-to-earth way. He doesn't just lecture about Oneness; through his work in mental health he has been 'putting theory into practise' for many years now. With incredible patience, Nic meets with all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds who are often in profound distress, and brings deep listening and loving presence, which I believe are the foundations of true healing.”
~ Jeff Foster, author and teacher
Imagine having a dream in which you have been wrongly imprisoned due to a tragic case of mistaken identity. Fortunately, you manage to wake yourself up, and so that identity is immediately discarded because it is easily seen to be false and therefore no longer causes you to suffer. You realise that you are not limited by the dream nor are you limited to the dream-characters; you are the dreamer, now awake to truth. With this illuminating insight dreaming takes on a new light and playing any character becomes a joy because you know that you are the ever-free and unlimited dreamer.
Are you ultimately defined by the fleeting expressions of life - thoughts, the bodymind, memories, feelings, sensations, moods, roles, objects, descriptions - and therefore limited by them? Or are you indefinable life itself, the deathless and limitless embrace of every expression?
For example, does anxiety restrictively contain you or do you fearlessly contain anxiety? Does pain restrictively contain you or do you effortlessly contain pain? Does the body contain you or do you actually contain the body? Does the world contain you or do you in truth contain the world? As the great spiritual teachers have told us for centuries, perhaps you are the single consciousness that enlivens and easily bares every fleeting manifestation. Perhaps what you truly are is unchanging and untouchable, indescribable and infinite in capacity.
“Why do you stay in prison when the door is so wide open?” the Sufi poet Rumi asks, “Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking. Live in silence. Flow down and down in always widening rings of being.” Self-concepts can seem like stifling prisons until they are examined directly with fresh eyes and uncensored openness. Identity is then seen to be wonderfully transparent and transient like free-flowing bubbles in the unbounded sky. A prison with no walls or doors is not a prison.
Perhaps you are not small or limited after all but beautifully boundless. Personal narratives, and all other stories for that matter, are too small to capture your vastness. Overlooking this makes us feel like we are always carrying an impossible burden. While definitions and descriptions are useful for communication, they can never confine or define you. It simply takes a subtle shift in perception to recognise this.
This is your invitation to initiate that shift, to let all ideas of limitation fall away and dissolve into the all-encompassing embrace that you are.

"I have a name for Nic Higham that I feel encapsulates his direct and gentle message... the name is 'Wonder-Cat' which seems to capture the open curiosity with which he invites us to meet life. In his own words he reminds us that ‘wisdom comes from clarity, inquiry is the vehicle and love is the ignition.' Meet with Nic and meet the wonder of your own light staring back at you."
