Wolf Watch

  • ** Please note, the wolf watch starts promptly at 10AM in Columbia NJ, if you'd like to meet in Morristown to carpool, it's an 8:30am meetup time at Dunkin Donuts.

Let's take a day trip to observe packs of Tundra, Timber, and Arctic wolves. Upon arrival at the Preserve we will enter the observation area, in the center of four packs of wolves. We'll learn about the social structure of wolf packs, their eating habits and their interactions with vampires. There is a 1 1/2 mile hike on the trails and the wolf watch will last about 1 1/2 hours.

For those that want to drive together, we can meet at the Dunkin Donuts near George and Marthas at 8:30 am (I know, but there's coffee...and wolves), 59 Morris St, Morristown to grab breakfast/coffee to go. The Preserve is just under an hour from Morristown, so we'll leave around 8:45am.

I can take 4 in my car, not sure yet of the level of interest since this will be an early morning :). If more are interested, another driver would be appreciated.  I'm sure there will be gas money exchanged for the kind volunteer.

If you'd like to attend but want to meet us there, registration is at 10am. The website states that the wolf watch will start promptly after registration, so we need to park/register by 10am so we don't get left behind on the trail (yes, the wolves are very into punctuality).

    Cost of admission is: $16
Sneakers/hiking boots are recommended/dress warmly since we'll be outside.
We can stop for lunch on the way back or in Morristown.
We'll be back in Morristown around 1pm-1:30 if we don't stop on the way back.

Based on the popular consensus I'll cancel for Sunday (when I get to a non work computer) and put the event up in the spring. Happy Friday, peeps :)

I'm down for Sunday if there's people interested. Though April would be more temperate :)

Had to reschedule for Sunday based on Saturday's forecast- rain all day.. Please leave a comment if you're interested in attending on Sunday.. If there's not interest in the new date, I'll be sure to add this event in the Spring when we are likely to have better weather. Thanks :).

Since it's going to be brutally cold tomorrow and the Preserve is closed today, it makes sense to reschedule for next week.. Will update once I am back at home, meetup app won't let me make changes on the fly.

Wow, what a cool event! How did I not see this earlier. (Must have been all the sunshine in FL) If I only have sneakers and not snow shoes, will I be okay? (Still missing some key winter clothes & accessories)

Everything happens for a reason! Shoe shopping tomorrow!

Try not to get distracted by the"pretty" shoes and forget to buy shoes for the snow. Lol!

Hey everyone, will send an update email tomorrow by late afternoon regarding whether we'll go as planned or "snowcheck." Stay warm and be safe tonight!

This sounds great, my car only seats two, can you keep us posted on the car pool situation?

Question: will bad weather impact our plans? I saw on the website that they sometimes close for that reason.

Sounds great, but I won't be able to make it. Have fun!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
