We have another clear night that can go out, I know that it is a bit short notice but I've had to keep my eye on the weather just to make sure that it doesn't go and change on me!
On this night we won't be able to do any moon viewing but not to matter, there is still plenty of other things out there in the great wide cosmos to go and view. I'm not going to put up a list of everything tonight that we'll be looking at but as a short list.
1) Jupiter! I mean who doesn't want to see Jupiter and a few of its moons.
2) There are a few nebulas that are nice to look at, they aren't quite as nice as looking at them from a dark site but I guess there isn't much we can do about that being in Melbourne.
3) We will also be able to have a look at a few open and globular clusters, some of which are quite spectacular.
4) We'll also have the chance to look at a few multiple star systems. Although they may not look as spectacular as some of the other astronomical objects, it is just amazing that we can physically see two stars orbiting one another from our humble little planet.
On the night I'm going to be bringing 10L of chilled water, a whole bunch of cups :) I'll also be bringing down some finger food of sorts, buscuits and some dips and what not. It's not dinner or anything but it should help with some of the hunger as we're likely to be out there for a while :)
There will be a $10 fee that mostly just goes to cover the cost of Public Liability Insurnace.
If anyone has any questions just leave a message on meetup or I can be contacted directly at[masked]
Friday afternoon I'm going to send out a mass email with more specific directions as to where the event is going to be held, will contain a map to make it easier to find :)
