Darebin Parklands adventure

Hi Woofers!

It's time for our next doggie adventure!  I haven't been to Darebin Parklands before, but it looks like it has a good off leash area from the map.  The website states that Darebin Parklands 'has a natural bush and country feel that is unique given it is only 7km from the Melbourne CBD. There are hidden treasures within the park including remnant orchards and crops that were grown on the fringe of a growing city during the mid-1800s.'

Let's meet at the end of Separation St, and then follow the shared path (with dogs on-lead) to the large off-leash area in the North-East corner.  Bring a towel for wet muddy paws afterwards!

See you there!

Cheers

Kate and Harry

A wet and freezing day with the odd bit of melting snow, made warm by good company in the form of other dog lovers and their ever enthusiastic band of hounds! A great outing to a pretty park! Thanks heaps Kate!

Cooper had an absolute ball, and it was lovely for us to meet some new human friends too! And his fancy Driz-a-bone coat kept at least half of him dry, despite going for a swim in a puddle!

Hi Kate, nearest coffee places would be Fairfield shopping cente. That's Station St and its about 5 mins drive from wetlands. Places ok for humans but can't recall any that allow dogs to go in.

    June 4, 2013

    • Kate

Thanks Cherie, sounds like we should all bring our coffee in a thermos to avoid disappointment and caffeine deprivation!

Kate- another great off lead (and on as well) is Fairfield park along yarra bend road. Large area for off lead and if you walk to Studley Park boathouse (where u can get coffee and food) the round trip is about 6-7 kilms. I normally walk it in about 1.5hrs round trip.

I don't like to go to off leash events, only like to walk with dogs on lead, how long (minutes) would the walk be prior to the off leash area, can't tell on map.

    June 3, 2013

    • Kate

Carrie, the on lead walk will only be about 10 to 15 minutes I think. Cheers, Kate

      June 3, 2013

    • Linda

I have two dogs, one who is good off lead, and the other......well, not so much (he has selective deafness and won't recall). If you're concerned about your dog being off lead, leave him/her on the lead. I leave Atticus on lead at off lead events and he is not the least bit bothered by it.

I walk at the wetlands most weekend. Great area and normally lots of dogs.

Hi cheese, that's good to hear! Do you know if there is anywhere suitable for us to get a drink or coffee near the parklands, such as a kiosk or cafe with outdoor area? If not we'll just have to bring our own coffees in a thermos :-). Cheers, kate
